Join Beverly resident Roberta Neuman for a talk about the Peabody Essex Museum’s latest exhibit “Asia in Amsterdam: The Culture of Luxury in the Golden Age,” an exhibit that was jointly curated by the PEM and the Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam. The exhibit explores that unique moment in time when the Dutch began extensive trade with Asia and the Dutch East India Company brought incredible luxuries from India, China and Japan to the newly emerging, and fabulously wealthy, Dutch middle class. Porcelain, lacquer ware, paintings, fabrics, jewels are featured in an array of treasures that are fabulous to see and Roberta will share some wonderful stories related to many of the pieces in the exhibit.

Roberta has been a docent at the Peabody Essex Museum for 14 years and frequently conducts outreach programs for the museum.

Program runs in the Sohier Room on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 PM. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments. Handicapped accessible. For more information please call 978-921-6062 or email langstaff@noblenet.org.
