Meet Our New Director

Please join us in welcoming the library’s new director, Anna Langstaff! Anna moved into the Director position in early April following the retirement of Patricia Cirone. Anna has been at the Beverly Public Library for 33 years, starting out as Head of Circulation, and moving on to Assistant Director in 1993. The trustees of the library voted unanimously in February 2017 to name her as the new director.

Anna comes on board at a time when the library is busier than ever, and is excited about her new role. “We’re more relevant than ever before,” Anna says, referring to the library’s multiple service areas, including study and recreational reading, programs for all ages, public meeting spaces, technology resources, free learning tools, and more. “I feel humbled that I can be the public face of this building [and] community institution.” As director, she takes on many new responsibilities, including chief problem solver, oversight of the building, and serving as the lead contact for city officials.

Anna discovered her passion for library work as a student at UMass Amherst. She volunteered at the public library while a student, and after graduation knew she had found her career. She worked at the Newton Public Library for about 10 years before coming to Beverly. Please direct any comments or questions to Anna at
