Computer Use & Library Cards

The Children’s Department in the Beverly Public Library offers an extensive collection of materials for children from birth to sixth grade including: books, magazines, audiobooks on cassette and CD, music CDs, and videos on VHS and DVD. We also have a section of materials for parents, provide support to local teachers, and offer a number of programs and special events for children of all ages.


  • Children’s Room Internet and word processing computers are reserved for children who are using the Children’s collection.
  • Computer sessions are limited to 30 minutes.
  • Use of email, YouTube, and Facebook are not allowed in the Children’s Room.
  • A catalog computer is also available for both children and adults to use.

Library Cards

  • Children under the age of 12 may apply for their library cards in the Children’s Room.
  • A parent’s signature is needed on the application.
  • There is no minimum age limit.
  • The first card is free. A replacement costs $1.00.
  • The Beverly Public Library honors cards from other Massachusetts libraries.
