On July 20, 2016, Riley Fessenden of Beverly, MA, lost a three-year battle with a rare form of cancer. With Riley ROCKS, this courageous young lady created a movement of love, caring, and support with thousands of people in her hometown, beginning when she was first diagnosed at the age of six.
In an effort to have Riley continue to inspire and engage, the New England Mobile Book Fair in Newton, MA has donated $200 in children’s books to the Beverly Public Library as a start to creating a perpetual fund, the Riley ROCKS Endowment, for the purchase of children’s books on an ongoing basis. NE Book Fair invites their customers, friends, and neighbors across Massachusetts to contribute to Riley’s fund, in her honor. The goal is to raise at least $5,000.
The Beverly Public Library is a donation location for this endowment effort. Checks may be dropped off at the main library or the Farms branch, and made out to the Beverly Public Library. Or, donations may be mailed to the library at 32 Essex Street, Beverly, MA, 01915 (please notate Riley ROCKS on your donation and envelope). You can also donate online via the City of Beverly website (select Library from the department list).
Donations will not be spent for books at this time, but will be accumulated in order to provide the seed money for the endowment. Questions? Please contact the library director, Patricia Cirone, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
