Assignment Alerts
Middle and high school educators are encouraged to email Katie Nelson with information about upcoming assignments. The more notice we have, the better we are able to serve you and your students by having relevant materials on hand.
Classroom Sets
The Teen Department maintains an extensive storage collection of former summer reading titles on the middle and high school lists. With a range of fiction and nonfiction, classrooms may arrange to borrow a variety of single titles or an entire set. Contact Katie Nelson for assistance or request items directly through the catalog.
Classroom Visits
The library welcomes class visits. Library staff can give tours of the library and show students how to find resources. Librarians can also do outreach visits to classrooms to deliver book talks and issue library cards. To ensure that we have adequate staff coverage, at least two weeks notice must be given. To set up an outreach visit or a class visit to the main library for middle or high school students, contact Katie Nelson.
Additionally, the Bookmobile visits many local schools; check the schedule for more information.
Programs for Teens
The library provides a variety of programs for teens. In April, during National Poetry Month, the Teen Department runs an annual poetry contest.
Research Assistance
In addition to helping you find print resources, librarians can help you access online databases which provide access to contemporary and historical magazines, journals and newspapers.
Summer Reading
The Farms branch, Children’s, and Teen librarians work in tandem with Beverly school librarians to create the annual lists of summer reading titles for the Beverly Public Schools. The library provides limited copies of the mandatory general summer reading list books. All required reading lists are posted on our website.
Teacher Cards
Teachers may apply for school library cards, if they wish to keep separate personal and school library accounts. Teachers will be responsible for any items borrowed on a school card.
